Our Social Action Plan
We planned and did a brainstorm of what were some needs we see in our community. We did a survey of what our class thought was the greatest need in our school. Most of us selected the senior Adventure Playground as our focus because we felt that there was a need to improve social skills such as team work and develop better managing self strategies in sharing of playground equipment such as the flying fox.
Then we did a Tally Chart of the play equipment that we liked playing on the most. "I like the dizzy dancers and flying fox the best " said Tufele.
Finally we completed a Y-Chart of what it looks like, sounds like and feels like NOW in the playground. We presented our results and discussed it with others. "What could do to make it a better meeting place during play and lunch times" said Chloe. We recorded the things that we liked. "Lets find out what it might look like, sound like and feel like in the future," said Ananiel.
"We also made a mural of us playing on the equipment and saying positive and caring things to each other like "You can have a turn now, I can wait 4 my turn, You have a go first and I will wait, Take care when you climb the climbing frame, Are you Okay! That's okay I will take the next frame." Then we wrote messages in speech bubbles that will be both positive and friendly in a poster.
