Assembly Presentation "Make your idea pay!"

Here is our class assembly presentation in May

We all sat on the stage to host our school assembly on 27 May 2016

We put our assembly on a powerpoint slide presentation with images of our classmates.
That was awesome.

Francois and Ayush were the hosts for our class assembly

Meliame and Khobi did the Current Events presentations

We interviewed a student on how to "Make your idea pay" and that was none other than
Sahil Kumar with his hilarious 'Cinnamon Challenge' video. We laughed until our stomachs felt sore.

After the video we interviewed Sahil to find out how he makes his idea to pay real dollars.

Thereafter we sang our favourite song "Worlds Best".

Brandon and Lina presented the Sports Events.

It all ended on a fabulous note with Francois and Corteyziha wishing us an exciting weekend.

Teachers' Market Day to model how to "Make your idea pay"

My teacher, Mrs Selvom Naidoo modelled how to set up a market stall to sell  a product

Preparations for Kulfi spiced Indian milk was done in the home kitchen the night before.
The ingredients above were used- that is, 3 litres of milk with all the kulfi spices above plus 2 cans of condensed milk was added and the mixture was simmered for 1 hour on low heat.

Then the Indian spiced Kulfi mixture was poured into little containers and plastic ice cube trays to freeze in ice lollies.

Yeh! We're all Sold Out!

Counting out my total earnings at the end of the market stall sales which was just 20 minutes.

Oh No!The IRD people, represesnted by Whaea Teri, are about to deduct taxes from my profits.

Here is how I worked out my own profits and tax deductions.
Total sales minus Cost  = Profits. We pay tax from our profits.
So $83 (Total sales) - $30 (Cost) =  $53
Business entrepreneurs like myself would have to pay 40% of our profits.
40% of $53 = $32
But lucky for me I didn't need to pay $32.00 tax because my market stall was at school and stall sales are exempt from paying tax.

Awesome market day experience for us all.

Preparing for the grand opening of the Outdoor Classroom

Look who is the helping hand at getting the job done!

Installing the Bug Condo in the Native Garden

Installing the Bug Condo in the Outdoor Classroom in our native garden

Look at the Bug Condo or insect hotel/motel that our inquiry insect group from room 22 planned and designed for our Outdoor Classroom in the native garden behind our classroom.

"We carried the Bug condo carefully out of the shed" said Brandon.

"Look! I am standing  inside one of the sections where the insects will be living in," said Darren.

"Oh! This wooden framework is heavy," said Kat.

"Thank you Bob for helping us to carry the Insect Condo, " said the boys.

"Gee! This bug motel is awesome and it looks like a bus," said Sela

"Lift up together, guys, said Francois.

Here is the Bug Condo wooden framework near the holes where Bob and Peter are going to place it and sealed it in concrete.

Bob and Peter helped to fit the structure into the holes that they had dug.

Thanks to Peter for lending a helping hand to install the bug framework with Bob and other students.

Bob turned the bug motel around so that the better side faces the audience.

Then Bob readjusted the poles in the holes to make them straight.

Bob used an instrument to check if the framework was perfectly straight. What a perfectionist!

                                                              Adjusting the framework

Pouring in the concrete

We all talked about what kinds of bugs might want to come and live in this Bug Condo.
